Microsoft has confirmed the free titles coming to Xbox Live’s Games with Gold program next month. Four new digital games will be rotated in and available as entirely free downloads for active Xbox Live Gold members. Read on to see the full lineup of April’s Xbox Live Games with Gold offerings.
Xbox Games with Gold for April 2019
As usual, Microsoft is splitting April’s game offerings between Xbox One and Xbox 360. Both Xbox 360 games are backwards compatible, though, so Xbox One users are essentially getting four games total. Each game is also only available during a specific time window, so pay close attention if any strike your fancy.
Star Wars Battlefront II
Before you get too excited, this is the original 2005 Star Wars Battlefront II, not DICE’s more recent 2017 title. Still, many would argue that the 2005 game is objectively better than DICE’s more recent release despite its dated graphics. If you want to try the classic title for yourself, its Games with Gold availability window is April 1-15.
The Technomancer
The Technomancer is a sci-fi action-RPG from developer Spiders. In many ways it looks and feels like a less-polished Mass Effect title if that helps. Spiders is also the same studio that developed RPG’s like Bound by Flame and Of Orcs and Men. The Technomancer will be available through Games with Gold from April 1-30.
Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2
Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2 continues the more futuristic theme that Ghost Recon adopted for a while. Funnily enough, it portrays a highly-advanced “future” version of the year 2014 (the game launched in 2007). If tense, tactical combat is something you enjoy, the game will be available through Games with Gold from April 16-30.
Outcast: Second Contact
As its name infers, Outcast: Second Contact is actually a remake of the classic Outcast game. Players control an elite soldier named Cutter Slade as they explore a massive open-world planet called Adelpha. Again, this isn’t an instantly recognizable game, but if you’re in a sci-fi mood, it could be worth playing. Outcast: Second Contact will be available via Games with Gold from April 16 to May 15.
If DICE’s 2017 Star Wars Battlefront II is more your jam, it just got a new Capital Supremacy update. DICE also recently launched the new Firestorm battle royale mode for Battlefield V.
