Bandai Namco has revealed SoulCalibur VI’s next playable character is none other than fan favorite returning fighter Voldo. The nimble, dual-wielding contortionist Voldo is returning to the series with the upcoming sixth entry in the popular Japanese fighting game. Fans can expect to utilize his unpredictable movements and attacks when the game releases later this year.
A new SoulCalibur VI trailer has been released, focusing on Voldo. You can see his crazy flips and attacks, along with his signature crawling along the ground in the trailer below. Voldo has been featured as a playable fighter in several games ever since Soul Edge, the original arcade game that released more than 20 years ago in 1995.
Voldo marks the 15th playable character in SoulCalibur VI, almost all of which are currently returning characters except Groh and guest character Geralt of Rivia from The Witcher series. If your favorite hasn’t been announced yet, fret not as there are sure to be many more characters than just 15.
The most recent game SoulCalibur V had 28 playable characters in total in its roster so you can expect to see a few more join the cast by the time it releases later this year. For those who haven’t heard yet, SoulCalibur VI is actually acting as a sort of retelling of the events from the very first SoulCalibur game on the Dreamcast to uncover some “hidden truths.”
SoulCalibur VI will also have two singleplayer modes for players to enjoy, though, one of them is currently still under wraps. In addition, we’ve already covered the PC system requirements for the game ahead of its October 19th, 2018 release so make sure to check that out.
