If you hate the fact that you can’t play with your friends on other platforms simply because you’re on a PS4 or PS3, you are not the only one. Lots of gamers want cross-play compatibility. Sony has resisted the idea in the past, but are finally caving to the pressure. In fact, cross-play for a few PS5 games is confirmed.
Cross-Play for These PS5 Games is Confirmed
The following four games are all confirmed to support (or intend to support) cross-play between PS5 and non-Sony platforms:
- Fortnite
- Chivalry II
- Destiny 2
- Worms Rumble
There will certainly be many more titles to add to this list. We simply do not know what they are yet. It was important for Sony to jump onboard with cross-play since Microsoft already said that cross-play is a priority for Xbox Series X.
Speaking of cross-play, do you play Apex Legends? If so, you hopefully caught the EA Play event. But in case you missed it and the announcements, you should be excited to learn that Apex Legends cross-play is coming too.
Supporting cross-play at last should help to cement brand loyalty for Sony. Many gamers want to be able to play with friends who are on Xbox, PC or Nintendo platforms. In fact, some people are more likely to purchase multiplayer games if they know they’ll be able to play them with the people they want to game with regardless of system. So, we wouldn’t be surprised if game sales go up across the board as cross-play support increases.
