Whether you are not upgrading to PS5 anytime soon or you are hanging onto your PS4 for other reasons, you may wonder whether Sony is going to turn its back on the console now that PS5 is on the way. Thankfully, the answer to that question is a resounding “no.” While talking with Geoff Keighley, PlayStation head of marketing Eric Lempel commented that there is a “lot more to come for PS4.”
Gamers Can Rest Assured There is More to Come for PS4
Lempel said, “We believe that all of these things combined, as well as all the other great PS5 features we’ve spoken about, really lead to a next generation experience. And in many cases, we can’t take everybody with us from previous consoles into that experience.”
He continued, “PS4 is a big part of everything we do, and will continue to be a big part of everything we do. There’s a lot more to come for PS4. I think we’re seeing some of the greatest titles of this generation release in recent weeks, but that will continue. PS5 is the next generation product, but we’ve got a lot to come for people on PS4. There’s still a ton of life in that product.”
What does this mean? At a minimum, it should mean that Sony will continue to provide support in the way of updates for the PS4, as it has done for a long time now with the PS3. Could it also entail new games exclusively for PS4? Maybe, maybe not. Only time will tell.
In the meantime, you should get ready to pre-order the PS5. It should be possible to do so very soon. Follow our PlayStation news to make sure you find out right away when it is possible to get in your pre-order.
