It’s looking likely that Sony has once again acquired the timed-exclusive marketing deal for Call Of Duty: Black Ops 4.
The game’s official twitter account recently sent out a tweet promoting their upcoming livestream reveal event where the publisher will announce specific details about the FPS and pull back the curtain on its first gameplay footage. Interestingly, not only does the tweet reference PS4 in a hashtag, but the tease also ends with a PS4 Pro advert. Here’s the tweet from the game’s official twitter account:

As is the tradition every year, Activision’s annual installment of its hugely popular military shooter often contains timed-exclusive DLC. Essentially, all modern Call of Duty games receive a season pass that consist of new maps for both their multiplayer and zombies mode components. With this possible marketing deal, these new maps will release first on Sony’s PS4, which means that their release on PC and Xbox One will drop around one month later.
It’s reasonable to assume that the PS4’s massive sales numbers may indeed be a factor into why the publisher has chosen to side with Sony’s console so much this generation.
For the record, Microsoft’s Xbox brand cinched five years of timed DLC exclusivity for the behemoth shooter, though in 2015’s Call Of Duty: Advanced Warfare, the tide began to change, as Activision instead began to side with Sony’s PS4 with its timed DLC marketing deal.
It’s an exciting time for all you Call Of Duty fans out there. With various rumors making the rounds, like talk of a newly implemented Battle Royale mode and a new mode that could be similar to Overwatch, Activision will be ready to spotlight its much anticipated shooter on May 17th. As always, we’ll keep you posted as more intel is released.
