Former Dallas Fuel Flex Seagull Will Miss OWL All-Star Weekend

Last week, former Dallas Fuel flex player Brandon “Seagull” Larned announced his retirement from professional Overwatch, saying he would be streaming full-time instead. Now, it has been confirmed that he will not be participating in the Overwatch League All-Star Weekend at the end of this month.

The Overwatch League front office broke the news via Twitter on Aug. 14.

“We have another All-Star roster update to share,” an OWL representative wrote. “Seagull is unable to attend but Bischu is joining the Pacific Division team as a reserve, and Kariv is joining the starting six.”

Los Angles Valiant’s Park “Kariv” Young-seo will be taking Segull’s place on the starting roster, while Los Angeles Gladiators’ Kim “Bischu” Hyung-seok will fill in Kariv’s spot on the Pacific Division’s reserve roster.

Last week, we also found out that London Spitfire DPS player Kim “birdring” Ji-hyeok will also not be participating in the All-Star Weekend due to a wrist injury. Instead, Park “Profit” Jun-young, birdring’s Spitfire DPS partner, will be fighting in his place.

Here’s an updated look at the starters for each division’s teams.

Atlantic Division

  • Bang “JJoNak” Seong-Hyun, New York Excelsior support
  • Hong “Ark” Yeon-Jun, NYXL support
  • Hong “Gesture” Jae-Hui, London Spitfire tank
  • Kim “Pine” Do-Hyeon, NYXL flex
  • Lee “Carpe” Jae-Hyeon, Philadelphia Fusion DPS
  • Park “Saebyeolbe” Jong-Ryeol, NYXL DPS

Pacific Division

  • Baek “Fissure”Chan-Hyung, Los Angeles Gladiators tank
  • Kim “Fleta” Byung-Sun, Seoul Dynasty DPS
  • Kim “Geguri” Se-Yeon, Shanghai Dragons tank
  • Park “Kariv” Young-seo, Los Angeles Valiant support
  • Ryu “Ryujehong” Je-Hong, Seoul Dynasty flex-support
  • Scott “Custa” Kennedy, Los Angeles Valiant support

There are also 12 substitute Overwatch League players on each side that will see gameplay.

There’s also some news on the fans’ side of the All-Star Weekend. Blizzard has slashed the prices for the special All-Star Weekend skins that will be available from Aug. 17 to 27.

Fans weren’t very happy that the skins originally cost 300 Overwatch League credits, or $20. Now, the skins are down to 200 Overwatch League tokens, or $10.

Blizzard does award OWL viewers for watching the stream on Twitch, but credits are still difficult to rack up without buying them. By cutting the price of the skins, Blizzard is giving fans a more reasonable opportunity to get them.

OWL All-Star Weekend

The Overwatch League’s All-Star Weekend begins on Aug. 25 with a Lucioball Showdown, Mystery Heroes, Widowmaker one-on-one, Talent Takedown, and Lockout Elimination. Then on Sunday, the two teams will face off in a six-on-six standard set with a five-map series.
