Riot Games recently announced a variety of details about Vanguard; the anti-cheating system which operates within Valorant. This system appears to be extremely robust, although it has raised some concerns about its level of access to users’ computers. However, it seems that Riot are so serious about stopping cheating in Valorant that they are now offering bounties of up to $100,000 to anybody who can find exploits and flaws within Vanguard!
Riot is Determined to Keep Valorant’s Anti-Cheat System Secure
“To reinforce our commitment to our players’ security, we are offering special bounties for up to $100,000 for high quality reports that demonstrate practical exploits leveraging the Vanguard kernel driver,” wrote Riot, in a recent update. It seems that Riot is foreseeing hackers finding holes regardless of what they do. While this may be a somewhat unconventional method to combat cheating, it’s also quite a smart one. Given how much the studio is willing to pay out in bounties, it also indicates how profitable they expect the game to be. As such, doing their utmost to prevent cheating is a wise priority.
All told, Riot is offering six categories of rewards to those who can identify cheating exploits in Vanguard. The maximum rewards range from $25,000 up to $100,000, although; “the actual bounty paid out depends on the impact and practicality of the exploit presented”. There are comprehensive details for how people can get each type of reward.
Specifically, people looking to find exploits in Vanguard need to meet several categories of eligibility. The exploit has to work in the latest version of Vanguard, first of all. Then, you’ll need to provide working a proof of concept for the exploit so that Riot can replicate it, together with a detailed report. The exploit also has to be new; it can’t have been shared elsewhere. Finally, you cannot share your findings with anybody except Riot. With any luck, these measures will help Riot to ensure that Valorant stays as cheat-free as possible when it launches.
