When Sony unveiled the PlayStation Plus free games lineup for July, the announcement didn’t exactly blow fans away. Since PS3 and Vita games have been removed from the PlayStation Plus lineup, subscribers only get two games per month. Worse, the two games Sony announced for July, Horizon Chase Turbo and Pro Evolution Soccer 2019, were incredibly underwhelming. However, in a surprise move, Sony is actually swapping out one of July’s previously confirmed PlayStation Plus free games.
PlayStation Plus Surprise Game Swap
Instead of PES 2019, PlayStation Plus subscribers are instead getting Quantic Dream’s sci-fi narrative game Detroit: Become Human. This means that the July lineup of free games is now Detroit: Become Human and Horizon Chase Turbo. Also, since the free version of Detroit: Become Human is the Deluxe Edition, an entire bonus game is included. Those who download Detroit: Become Human through PlayStation Plus can also download the PS4 version of Heavy Rain.
Sony confirmed the switch up over on the PlayStation Blog. An explanation for the last-minute change wasn’t given, though Sony did apologize for any inconvenience caused by the change. The updated post also provided a brief description for Detroit: Become Human:
“In Detroit: Become Human, discover what it really means to be human in a powerful, emotional journey made of choice and consequences. Set in Detroit City during the year 2038, the city has been revitalized by the invention and introduction of Androids into everyday life. But when Androids start behaving as if they are alive, events begin to spin out of control. Step into the roles of the story’s pivotal three playable characters, each with unique perspectives as they face their new way of life.”
As we previously reported, these new PlayStation Plus games will be available from July 2 to August 5. Later this month, PS4 users will also gain access to Electronic Arts’ EA Access subscription service.
