With Super Smash Bros. Ultimate on the horizon, more and more news trickles out. Among the most recent is a supposed screenshot that leaks Street Fighter’s Ken as a new playable character.
An image appeared on social media featuring Ivysaur, Pichu, Pac-Man, and Ken fighting on Moray Tower, the Splatoon stage. It’s not 100% confirmed, but it looks legit enough to be real. Having Ken as a playable character makes sense since Ryu is a returning fighter. Ryu first appeared as DLC for the Smash Bros. games on Wii U and the 3DS.
With the introduction of Echo fighters in Ultimate, it’s likely that Ken would be an Echo fighter for Ryu. Among the other Echo fighters are Peach/Daisy, Pit/Dark Pit, and Simon Belmont/Richter Belmont. These are just some of the Echo fighters that have been confirmed and it wouldn’t be surprising if more appear in the game. The idea of Ken being an Echo fighter is one that fans have speculated for a while and it wouldn’t be surprising if this was real.
As we get closer to the game coming out, we’re bound to get more news. With each new detail that comes out, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is shaping up to be one of the most ambitious crossovers in gaming history. It has an impressive roster of roughly 70 fighters and that number could easily get higher. Additionally, it’ll feature over 100 stages with more to probably be announced. It features over 900 music tracks and Street Fighter is among the third-party franchises represented.
