Destiny 2: Bungie Reaffirms Its Commitment to Crucible PvP

Over the past several months, Bungie has been unusually quiet when it comes to Destiny 2’s Crucible PvP component. Despite constant pleas from fans on social media like Twitter and Reddit, Bungie’s weekly updates would arrive sans Crucible news. Some fans even started to worry whether Bungie had just given up on the Crucible PvP component entirely. Fortunately, Bungie has now finally broken its silence, saying that Crucible PvP is here to stay.

During a recent livestream, community manager David “DeeJ” Dague took a moment to address fans’ Crucible concerns. You can watch a clip of Dague’s statement here or read it below:

“I know there’s been a lot of community chatter about the Crucible. There’s been a lot of speculations about our plans. We want to absolutely go on record and say that there are members of the development team who come into Bungie every day to work on Destiny. And they’re hard at work, upstairs, right now, on future evolutions for the Crucible.”

Fellow community manager Dylan “Dmg04” Gafner also confirmed via Twitter that Crucible PvP isn’t going anywhere. Lastly, Bungie addressed the Crucible concerns in its most recent This Week at Bungie blog post.

The TWAB statement basically reiterates what Dague said during the livestream. Bungie has big plans for the future of Crucible PvP, it just can’t talk about them right now. In the meantime, the studio will continue implementing matchmaking tweaks, quality-of-life changes, balancing passes, and other improvements for the Crucible.

In other Destiny 2 news, the game’s imminently arriving 2.2.1 update will benefit Gambit Prime and Black Armory fans. Reckoning weapons will be added to the Gambit Prime loot pool and have their drop rates buffed. Black Armory vendor Ada-1 will also start offering all her available weapon frames, no more weekly rotations. Destiny 2 update 2.2.1 is scheduled to launch tomorrow, April 9.
