Takedown at the Guardian Breach, the second endgame Takedown mission to launch in Borderlands 3, is now live in-game and available to play. The mission follows the format of Takedown at the Maliwan Blacksite, the first Takedown mission; it features new bosses, enemies, and loot designed for endgame players. In fact, this Takedown also features a totally new planet; Minos Prime.
Borderlands 3 Takedown at the Guardian Breach
The new Takedown at the Guardian Breach was originally due to launch last week, on the 4th of June. However, like many such releases and events, it was postponed in solidarity with the recent protests. The Takedown was implemented into the game instead as part of a free update which went live today. As such, it is now available to play.
“This particular Takedown takes place on the distant planet of Minos Prime,” explains Gearbox; “Sanctuary III’s resident Eridian expert Patricia Tannis sends you there to investigate a mysterious Guardian signal – but she didn’t count on hordes of hostile Guardians awaiting you. A sect of rogue Guardians has taken over Minos Prime and reshaped it, shattering the planet into pieces and covering it with ominous architecture akin to the obelisks and statues found on Nekrotafeyo.”
Unlike the first Takedown, the Guardian Breach is launching with difficulty scaling; while it is designed for a team of four players to tackle together, it is possible to attempt with a group of any size. (Or for a daring player to attempt solo.) However, it does feature the same limited respawn mechanics as the first Takedown. If you go down and a squadmate doesn’t revive you, you won’t respawn; instead you’ll only get a single chance to respawn after your team defeats the mid-way boss. If your whole team falls, you’ll fail the mission and have to start again. If you do make it to the end, however, then you’ll get loot which includes a range of new cosmetics and Legendary gear.
