Borderlands 3 Revenge of the Cartels Event Ends with Today’s Patch

With the launch of today’s Borderlands 3 patch, the seasonal Revenge of the Cartels event which was live throughout the last month-and-a-half has come to an end. In its place, the new patch introduces Takedown at the Guardian Breach, the next major addition of new content. Plus, the patch includes updates to Mayhem 2.0 and a range of tweaks and fixes, as usual.

Today’s Major Borderlands 3 Patch

The headline feature of today’s Borderlands 3 patch is Takedown at the Guardian Breach; the second-ever Takedown mission to come to the game. The patch also includes a range of updates to Mayhem 2.0; the long-awaited rework to Borderlands 3’s Mayhem mode which was launched in the last major patch, at the start of Revenge of the Cartels.

Borderlands 3 Patch Ends Revenge of the Cartels 2

With the release of this new patch, the Borderlands 3 Mayhem 2.0 mode has had a rebalancing at levels 7, 8, 9, and 10. Additionally, as vending machines won’t support Mayhem Level gear until the next patch, the patch includes stop gap changes to certain Mayhem modifiers. For instance, Mob Mentality and Chain Gang will no longer be rolled together. Meanwhile, Floor is Lava will no longer activate as frequently, and Chain Gang has had an overall rework. “We will continue to monitor the performance of Mayhem 2.0 and make adjustments in the future,” writes Gearbox; “The Boundary Issues and Drone Ranger Mayhem Modifiers are continuing to go through testing and are not going to be turned back on at this time.”

Alongside these two features, which Gearbox has been hyping up for months, the patch also includes other additions. The Fight For Your Life system, for example, has gotten its own rework. These include the addition of cooperative reviving, so that multiple people can revive a player faster than one. Downed players who are being revived have also had their speed reduced, and the interactive radius around downed players has been increased; both alterations to make it easier to revive players. Players can find the full details of all the new changes and fixes in the official patch notes.
