Gearbox has released another set of Borderlands 3 hotfixes to end the week, bringing a series of tweaks and fixes, as well as some changes for the game’s Mayhem Mode. Because of the release of the Bloody Harvest event, part of which was enabled by this patch, this latest round of hotfixes is smaller than those that have come before. Nevertheless, it does include a few important things.
Borderlands 3 Hotfixes: Minor Tweaks and Mayhem Mode Changes
Firstly, the new Borderlands 3 hotfixes implement several bug fixes, including collision issues which had been reported in several areas. The Eridian chest which can be found near the Terradome is no longer sunk into the ground, for example. Meanwhile, players can no longer escape out of the Slaughter Shaft. Most of the other fixes are single (and relatively minor) issues; you can check the full patch notes here to see if any bugs you’ve run into have been fixed.
Gearbox has said in the past that a more comprehensive weapons balancing patch is in the works. However, it isn’t included with this round of hotfixes. The only change to weapons was a +50% damage boost for Tediore E-Tech Shotguns. (According to Gearbox, this is correct, and the shotguns had been set to the wrong value in-game until now.)
Recently, during the month-long 10-year Borderlands Anniversary celebration, Gearbox ran an event called Mayhem on Twitch. During this event, they made several changes to boost both the Borderlands 3 Mayhem Mode and the game’s ECHOcast Twitch extension (which was finally brought to consoles in last week’s patch). This event was so popular, in fact, that this latest patch makes some parts of it permanent; “the chance of receiving a weapon penalty as a Mayhem modifier will continue to be reduced at the same rate as the Mayhem on Twitch Week,” confirms Gearbox. Additionally, Anointed gear will now drop more frequently in Mayhem Mode.
