Ahead of Activision’s official Call Of Duty: Black Ops 4 reveal event tomorrow, a photo containing an image of a shelf filled with pre-order cases for a Nintendo Switch version of the highly anticipated first-person shooter has surfaced. The photo in question, which is from the rack of a US retailer Gamestop, is as follows:
Will Black Ops 4 be coming to Nintendo Switch?
This photo has led many to speculate that a Nintendo Switch port is indeed going to be announced by the publisher at the upcoming official reveal event tomorrow.
The last Call Of Duty game to release on a Nintendo platform was Ghosts back in 2013. Interestingly, Treyarch – the team spearheading Black Ops 4’s development – were the team that ported Ghosts to the Wii U.
It’s worth considering that Nintendo Switch Online is set to launch in September 2018, which is only one month before Black Ops 4’s official release date: 12th October, 2018. Could Black Ops 4 – one of the most popular online franchises in the world – lead the charge for Nintendo’s newly fangled online service? Possibly, no?
To make things even more complicated, reputable Call Of Duty fan site Charlie Intel has come forward and claimed that the photo is nothing but a hoax set up by a mistaken Gamestop employee. As always, we’d suggest to take this photo with a pinch of salt.
With teases relating to the game’s upcoming zombies mode, multiplayer perks and even the possibility of a newly implemented Battle Royale mode, the rumor mill is turning wildly. What we do know for certain is that Activision will be ready to unveil a ton of details tomorrow at Black Ops 4’s official reveal event. As more intel drops, we’ll make sure to keep you all updated.
