Activision Invested “Significant Dedicated Resources” Into Black Ops 4 On PC

Activision has invested “significant dedicated resources” into the PC version of their upcoming military shooter, Call Of Duty: Black Ops 4.

In a recent earnings call, Activision Blizzard President and Chief Operating Officer, Coddy Johnson, outlined how confident the company is in Treyarch and their highly anticipated tactical shooter. Johnson spoke about, “the confidence we have in Treyarch and their ability to execute on their creative vision,” as well as going on to describe how the team over at Treyarch, “will continue to push the envelope in innovation.” Furthermore, Activision also made the claim that their development team have invested “significant dedicated resources” into the PC version of the title.

Interestingly, Call Of Duty on PC has not traditionally been the lead platform of choice as the majority of the game’s western audience reside on console. That being said, with growing PC markets in countries like China and Russia, for example, PC still has a huge amount of untapped potential for big global publishers like Activision et al. This could be a pivot from the US-based publisher to try and capitalise on this.

Another reason behind Black Ops 4’s more PC-centric development focus could simply be due to Activision Blizzard trying to push their Battle.net PC service, which also provides access to hugely popular titles like Overwatch, Destiny 2, StarCraft, Diablo III and World Of Warcraft. It could also perhaps be to do with the architecture of the latest consoles, as both Xbox One and PS4 have very similar hardware specs to a PC. Regardless, we’re sure that aiming to focus more resources on the PC version can only be a positive thing.

With a myriad of rumors making the rounds, like the possibility that Black Ops 4 will forgo its single-player campaign perhaps due to Modern Warfare 2 Remastered releasing later this year, and also integrate in a brand new Battle Royale mode, there’s lots of juicy details to get you excited before the game’s official reveal on May 17th.
