Warframe Announced for Nintendo Switch at TennoCon 2018

As if the Nintendo Switch couldn’t get any better, developer Digital Extremes has announced its popular free-to-play game Warframe is coming to Nintendo Switch. Panic Button, the studio responsible for bringing games such as Doom and Skyrim to the platform is handling the port. The news was announced at TennoCon, the third annual convention for Warframe.

Released in 2013, Warframe is a cooperative, third person, free-to-play action game. Players take control members of a Tenno, a race of ancient warriors who have awoken after centuries of cryosleep and find themselves at war with other factions. Players are given the option to engage in PvP (player versus player) matches and PvE (player versus environment) matches. Additionally, it’s known for having thousands of customization options, hundreds of weapons to choose from, and a flexible mods system.

Going Down Memory Lane

Warframe initially came out on PC in 2013, expanded to PS4 during its launch, and came to Xbox One in 2014. Among others, Panic Button was responsible for releasing ports of Doom, Skyrim, and Wolfenstein 2: The New Colossus to the Switch. Porting each of those games was a daunting task and Panic Button seems fit for the job. All of those ports got great reviews and introduced those games to new audiences.

Last month, speculation arose when Panic Button teased that it’s working on another major Nintendo Switch port. Rumors of Grand Theft Auto V and Fallout 4 ports have been around for months, but it looks like we’ll have to wait and see if those come to pass. Lastly, no release date has been announced at this time, but you can check out the trailer above.
