Previously, Epic Games had teased in an update on the official Fortnite page that changes were coming to the game in terms of building. It looks like the company has made good on that promise, as the advantage that was previously available to players who were in the middle of editing a structure has been removed. Now it’s no longer an option to start building and using your structures to keep you safe. Legitimate strategy? Not anymore.
Now, the middle square of your edit panels has been replaced by an opaque square that you can’t peek around or see through, as of the newest patch. “Blocks that are removed while in edit mode are now opaque rather than clear,” Epic Games explained “Adjusted to limit player’s ability to peek through structures while editing.”
As you can see, it’s a stark difference, and certainly doesn’t let anyone get away with any shenanigans. It’s al in a bid to keep “pencil warriors” out, which refers to players to keep themselves shut up in a structure and remain in edit mode so that they can see everything going on around them without having to move.
Now, those same warriors will have to pop their head up and take a look around their surroundings if they want to progress, which will leave them much more vulnerable to snipers. They won’t have a way to keep themselves completely protected, and it’s going to eliminate much of the frustrating behaviors these people bring to the table.
It can be frustrating dealing with players that take advantage of systems like these in-game, especially when they’re not meant to be used like this in the first place. Have you dealt with similar instances of “pencil warriors” in Fortnite, or anything similar to this kind of phenomenon? Let us know in the comments below!
