Although Bethesda’s E3 presentation was dominated by announcements like Fallout 4 and Starfield, Todd Howard spared a brief mention for Elder Scrolls Legends. Bethesda’s free-to-play card game was recently handed over to a new developer, and as such, Bethesda has now unveiled a major revamp for the title.
The Revamped Elder Scrolls Legends
Elder Scrolls Legends originally released back in March 2017; developed and maintained by Dire Wolf Digital. However, Bethesda recently announced that they were handing the game over to Sparkypants Studios for the foreseeable future. As part of that handover, Elder Scrolls Legends is receiving a major overhaul which Sparkypants Studios has been working on for some time.
Bethesda unveiled the new interface in the trailer above. In addition, they announced that the game would soon be coming to consoles. Elder Scrolls Legends will be available on the Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and Nintendo Switch. Since release, the free-to-play game has only been available on PC and mobile devices. Christian Van Hoose, community manager for Elder Scrolls Legends, explained at E3 that players’ progress and accounts could be carried over to the upcoming console versions.
“There’s no reason to wait to play the game;” he said. “Download ‘The Elder Scrolls: Legends’ for free and join me tonight on PC, mobile or tablet and any progress you make in the game will be carried over to the console versions through your Bethesda.net account.”
The new interface reportedly places greater emphasis on visual effects so as to make the game a more dynamic experience. A news post published on Bethesda.net by Bethesda’s Parker Wilhelm announced the new changes in more detail. Elder Scrolls Legends will feature new playmats and a new menu layout, and perhaps more importantly, a revamped client. That new client system both reduces the game’s file size and runs the game more smoothly.
