3D Realms should already be familiar to most fans of oldschool shooters as their recently released Ion Fury and soon-to-be-released Wrath have dived deep into the oldschool “boomercore” shooter revival as of late. But the next announced game from 3D Realms, “Ghostrunner” might be something a bit more modern but still awesome.
Today 3D Realms announced their next distributed game will be the hardcore cyberpunk FPS “Ghostrunner”, developed by One More Level and co-developed by Slipgate Ironworks (the makers of the 2013 Rise of the Triad reboot and the game Rad Rodgers among other things) which is very closely tied to 3D Realms. It’ll be published by All In! Games and is set to be released next year.
Judging by the screenshots and trailer, it seems we’re looking at a pretty parkour-heavy experience set in a very Blade Runner esque cyberpunk setting. It also seems the game will focus heavily on melee combat with the character being equipped with a glowing sword and a whip which he seems to use mostly for swinging around the levels. The game is confirmed to be using Unreal Engine 4. So it’s definitely a beautiful game too with gorgeous gritty texture work. Colour me all kinds of intrigued!
You can already wishlist the game on Steam to be notified when it’s available. It’s coming to PC, XBox One and PS4 in 2020!
