What baseball fan doesn’t like the long ball? Stolen bases and head first slides are exciting, however, home runs instantly bring the crowd to their feet and can change the complexion of the game. The MLB The Show 19 player ratings have revealed which players you may want to select when you are looking to do some damage!
Gallo, Judge lead Power Hitters
With Opening Day arriving, fans are ready to see some explosive action. When you think of power hitters in 2019, Joey Gallo has to come to mind. Gallo hit 41 home runs in 2017 and followed it up with 40 last year. That is some power! Having back to back seasons of 20 homers or more is impressive. When you hit 40+ – that is monster status.
Right behind Gallo are a pair New York Yankees – Aaron Judge and Giancarlo Stanton.
Judge’s power rating is at 94 to start the season, while Stanton is 93. These two will play a huge role for New York this season. If the Yankees are planning on making a deep playoff run, they will need these two to be as strong as ever.
Like Gallo, Judge took the MLB world by storm. After hitting 52 home runs and winning the Rookie of the Year award in 2018, Judge hit 27 long balls in 2018. It is not so much the home run power that is impressive from Judge, it’s just how hard he hits the ball every time he makes contact. Look for more of the same in 2019.
Where is Bryce Harper?
If you are wondering where cover athlete Bryce Harper is on the list, you may be a bit surprised. Harper isn’t ranked in the top 10. The new Phillies star is tied for 15th overall with Rhys Hopkins and Mike Trout. All three sluggers have an 84 rating.
