After a few years of waiting, players are now enjoying Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice. The newest release by FromSoftware brings players to the days of Japan in the 16th century. Of course, this is a far different setting from the dark and gritty settings seen in the Soulsborne titles. However, it seems like players received this change with open arms as the game saw incredible success in Steam this year.
Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice Has A Successful Steam Launch
This information is brought to us thanks to the folks over at Steam Charts. Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice sold over 100,000 copies on Valve’s digital storefront. Here’s the kicker, those units were sold during the 24 hours after the game was released. Not only that, but the game has seen 90,000 concurrent players on average. Furthermore, the game also saw a Peak player base of 124,334 players during March 23. For comparison sake, Devil May Cry 5 only achieved to get 88,000 concurrent users on launch.
In terms of popularity, Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice has become the Top #4 in terms of concurrent players. The game is beaten only by other popular titles like Dota 2, PUBG, and Counter Strike: Global Offensive. In fact, this is the only single-player game that’s ever been in the Top 10.
Sekiro also marks the third most successful Japanese game launch in the history of Valve’s platform. The first time happened after the incredibly successful release of Monster Hunter: World. Meanwhile, the second place is taken by the success of Dark Souls III.
