PUBG Gets Free-to-Play Version for Low-Spec PCs Called “PUBG Lite”

Unlike other Battle Royale games, PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds is a paid experience on consoles and PC. However, PUBG Corp. has been working on a free-to-play version of the game for a specific PC demographic. This version is called PUBG Lite and has been quietly revealed recently. In fact, an open beta has started today without much fanfare.

PUBG Lite is a “Diet” PUBG for low-spec PCs.

PUBG Lite has been recently announced by PUBG Corp.

PUBG Lite is meant to increase performance on low-spec PCs. Furthermore, the game has entered an open beta phase. Unfortunately, this early phase will see PUBG Lite available only in Thailand. However, it’s also expected to expand to more locations in the future. On the other hand, no plans for an American release were given. As such, it’s easy to assume that the game will only be meant to be played in the Asian market.

According to the website, PUBG Lite includes Erangel, Miramar, as well as the game’s training mode. In addition, the game has lower system requirements compared to the base version of PUBG. This means that gamers with an Intel Core i3 processor, 4GB of RAM and Intel Graphics 4000 or higher can join in the fun.

The game will also preserve the Battle Royale experience from the retail version of the game. In fact, PUBG Corp. has recently stated that there will still be 100-player matches just like in traditional PUBG. Finally, PUBG Corp. prepared a video to announce the open beta phase in Thailand. Earlier this month, PUBG Corp. has also shown some progress on its fight against cheaters. In fact, they banned some professional players from competitive play due to use of illegal software. What do you think about PUBG Lite and its options for low-spec PCs? Do you expect the game to be released in America any time soon?
