Rockstar Games revealed this morning that the Red Dead Redemption 2 Battle Royale Gun Rush Mode is now available in Red Dead Online for all platforms. Gun Rush is the online mode’s true attempt at a Battle Royale mode. It pits 32 players against one another in a battle for survival in a shrinking map. As always, the last player (or team) standing wins the match.
The Red Dead Redemption 2 Battle Royale Gun Rush Mode is available in both standard solo and team variations as you would expect. Players need to scour the map area for weapons and ammunition to take on their opponents. While a much smaller number of players per match, it certainly makes sense for the more weighty feel of gameplay compared to, say, Blackout.
Red Dead Redemption 2 Battle Royale Gun Rush Mode and Other Changes
This is the first major update for Red Dead Online in 2019. In addition to this, Rockstar revealed some more info in the press release. It seems that Red Dead Online will remain in a beta format for “a few more months” before it fully releases.
This is to give the development team plenty of time to add “many more” new gameplay features, in addition to improvements, gameplay stability, and other refinements. Here are some of the changes that are coming soon to Red Dead Online:
- Daily Challenges: Tackle new challenges each day from sharpshooting to evading the law.
- Law and Bounty Upgrades: Changes are coming to the way the Law and Bounty systems work in Red Dead Online. This is to reduce the enticements for griefing. Soon, players will get a bounty for committing crimes and will be incentivized to pay them off within an allotted time. Wait too long and bounty hunters from each of the states will track the player to either pay up or escape.
- Parley Changes: We’re making the Parley system easier to trigger so that you can avoid aggressive players quickly. In addition, it will be easier to trigger Feuds, Posse Feuds, and Leader Feuds to take on attacking players in structured competition.
- Proximity-Based Player Blips: Player location blips will soon appear only over short distances, reducing the range at which you are visible to others, and decreasing the likelihood of being targeted by another player across large areas. Down the line, we’re also looking to introduce the ability to identify players who grief and kill indiscriminately with a progressively darkening blip. It becomes more visible and at a longer range. This will make it so everyone in a session can identify potentially dangerous opponents at a glance.
