We’re sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but it’s looking unlikely that a Nintendo Switch version of Call Of Duty: Black Ops 4 will be coming out any time soon.
In a recent interview with Twinfinite, Treyarch’s Senior Producer, Yale Miller, and Gameplay Designer, Matt Scronce, were asked the question as to whether there were any plans in the works to bring any component of their upcoming first-person shooter to Nintendo’s handheld hybrid. Miller’s answer was a short and sweet, “No there is not.” Dang!
There were a few rumors making the rounds that suggested that a Switch port was possibly in the works in some shape or form. However, the answer in this interview unfortunately puts those rumors to bed.
With Nintendo Switch Online set to launch in September, a port of Black Ops 4 would’ve been a great catch for the Big N and would’ve helped give the diminutive console some welcome momentum, as well as assisted in justifying the price of entry for their new paid online service.
With the dust now beginning to settle following the cavalcade of details from the game’s recent official reveal event, which included confirmation that a single-player campaign will indeed be MIA, a new Battle Royale Mode is definitely coming, and that there’ll be three fully-fledged maps in the Zombies mode at launch, Treyarch are slowly starting to drip-feed more information as they gear up for Black Ops 4’s pre-release marketing campaign before the title launches on 18th October.
But how about you? Are you as disappointed as us about the absence of a Switch version of Black Ops 4? As always, don’t forget to let us know in the comments below.
