The Studio Ghibli-inspired 2D adventure game Forgotton Anne (yes, it is spelled that way on purpose) is leaping its way to Nintendo Switch sometime in Spring 2019. The gorgeous anime-style story-driven title has already released on PS4, Xbox One, and PC earlier this year but will make the switch over to Nintendo’s hybrid console next year.
Forgotton Anne follows the story of the titular heroine Anne in a stunning Spirited Away-like world that is filled with everything that has become lost and forgotten, hence the name. Anne is an enforcer in the forgotten lands where objects and toys that are otherwise lifeless in the real world come to life as living creatures.
With an “impassioned” ruler on one side of the forgotten world and a rebellion brewing on the other end, it’s up to you in Forgotton Anne to decide where the story goes. It is a story-driven seamless cinematic adventure that takes place from the 2D sidescrolling perspective. There are choices to make along the journey in addition to some light puzzle solving and platforming elements.
Your words and actions affect how the story progresses with options like deciding what to do with a particular Forgotling creature. Your decisions in these various matters have the potential to alter the tale of Anne and her master Bonku attempting to be able to return to the human world at some point.
Forgotton Anne comes to Nintendo Switch in Spring 2019. If you’re interested, it is already available right now on PS4, Xbox One, and PC. Stay tuned for a full release date in the near future. In the meantime, check out some other anime-inspired video games like Black Clover: Quartet Knights that releases very soon and My Hero One’s Justice that is also making its way to Nintendo Switch next month in October.
